I Am What I Ate...and I'm frightened!!!: And Other Digressions from the Doctor of Comedy. Bill Cosby. William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, Inc. 2004.

Book review by Jane
I picked this book up to help me in two ways—to beat the quiet time of sitting on a jury for two weeks and to get a laugh out of the (sometimes) failings of dieting. This book is a hilarious look what a person goes through once the doctor suggests that they eat right, quit smoking, exercise, quit drinking, and other things for their health. Take it from Bill Cosby, who recently gave up a few things and took on exercising--the experience can be quite funny.

I loved his description of moderation--when what the doctor means by moderation, and what Bill Cosby means by moderation come to a meeting. His explanation of why people try on and buy shoes that don’t fit them also make it in this book.

I found myself explaining to my granddaughter who Bill Cosby is, and it was an experience. She is a first grader. I tried to tell her about pudding, but that is not the half of it. Those who are my kids’ ages or older will know who this comedian is.

I noted that his writing allowed time to flow faster than expected. I was certainly disappointed when I finished this book, then I wanted to read more of his writings while I sat for several hours a day. (Unfortunately, I Am What I Ate...and I'm frightened!!!: And Other Digressions from the Doctor of Comedy, Cosbyology: Essays and Observations from the Doctor of Comedy and Fatherhood are not available in Kindle format yet).

I Am What I Ate...and I'm frightened!!!: And Other Digressions from the Doctor of Comedy was by far my favorite book I read during that time period, including other books I enjoyed, a title called The Disappearance by J. F. Freedman and one of Joel’s picks, The Light on the Island (50th Anniversary Edition) by Helene Glidden. (See Joel's review: The Light on the Island.) I will get prepared for more downtime when the weather may turn snowy by picking up some of the other titles by Bill Cosby.

Jane.
