Book review by Tracey
My next-door neighbor, like many of us, has vampire fever. She offered this series to me with the advice that the book series and the HBO television series--True Blood (which is based on these novels)--were nothing alike, so she was able to enjoy them both individually. I have never seen the television series so I am writing about the written word alone.

I really enjoyed this series of stories. The main character--Sookie Stackhouse--is young, fun, and down to earth. She has the gift (or disability) of reading minds and the vampires (who have recently come out in society) are a big draw to her as she cannot read theirs.
Each book has a new adventure but can be read entirely separately from the others without detracting from the storyline. I started the first one thinking I’d just see how I liked it and really couldn’t put them down until I’d finished the last. They are a lot of fun. Each new book comes up with some other type of supernatural being, so it’s not just Sookie and a bunch of vampires. I had a good time with this one. Thanks, neighbor.

Tracey.
